Day two I woke up refreshed and ready to hit the town, awake this time. We headed to a nearby pub for a traditional English breakfast. We fell for a beautiful facade which turned out to be a CHAIN pub with bad food including powdered eggs ewww! I then convinced Derek to take The Big Bus Tour of London! He pretended like he was excited anyway. It was a nice overview of London, I loved it!
We saw lots of old buildings amongst the new buildings. Of course the photos don’t do it justice, but I’ll show you anyway!
We didn’t take the audio tour, but if you do apparently you throw your used headphones on the top of the bus shelter at the bus stop!
Next we hopped on the tube and went to Notting Hill to escape the tourists and crowds for a little lunch and shopping. I loved the quaint neighborhood and the little shops. We then stopped in a locally owned pub for some beer and a Pimm’s for me! More to come on Pimm’s in a later post.
Then we decided to walk from Notting Hill the entire length of Kensington Gardens. We saw Royal Albert Hall and the Albert Memorial which were beautiful. You may remember in the love letters that were read at our wedding I made reference to watching the movie Young Victoria and understanding the feeling of love between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. So it was amazing to see the real history of their love in monuments and hearing the stories of their love by our Big Bus Tour Guide.
We also found the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain and continued through Hyde Park.
Once we reached Picadilly my feet were done! So I convinced my hubby to hail a rickshaw and we rode to dinner in Picadilly Circus and then caught a cab back to the hotel.
Thank you Hubby,
my feet thank you!
Ok, I was going to condense and do more than one day, but we did so much on Day 2 and took so many great photos from the roof of the double decker tour bus I can’t fit in another day. I’m also kinda wordy and had such a fabulous trip I can’t leave anything out!
